THE GIGANTIC APPLE (FOLK TALE)

This is a tale first time I read when I was just a little girl back in Switzerland. I have basically created these illustrations for an Instagram challenge that was taken place under the name of "Folk Tale".

Here you can read the tale's short version re-written by myself:)

...
The tale begins with a poor farmer. His only capital is an apple tree. The problem is the tree wouldn't give any apple. One morning, out of blue, he happens to see there is one single red apple hanging from one of the branches of the tree. He gets so excited that every morning he goes to see if the apple is still there. Within days, he realises that the apple is getting bigger and bigger.

Meantime, in the city a crisis occured. A giant dragon attacks the city, burning everything down. The king is desperate, because no one is able to stop the dragon.

The poor farmer, on the other hand, was checking up on the apple every morning. And one morning, he finds out the apple got so big that it sits on the ground under its very tree. So he decides to take the apple with him, and to go to the city to sell it off for a good price. He finds a carriage and manages to put the apple on it, he then begins his journey towards the city. When he arrives, he finds out people are scared, leaving their houses in hurry. He then sees the dragon flying about the fortifications. Though he gets scared of this view, yet he decides to go further. So he crosses the bridge️ that leads to the city. When he arrives, the dragon soon notices the farmer and the huge red apple next to him. He flies towards them & grabs the apple with his teeth. He then swallows the apple, but the apple is so huge even the dragon cannot eat it and it gets stuck in the middle of his throat, and soon he dies.
The king rewards the farmer afterwards due to his courage and cleverness. Happy he is, the farmer gets back to his village, this time with a medal️ and a bag full of gold.
